一、会议的源起与宗旨
1、中国快速地城市化进程，引起学术界的日趋重视，本研讨会即关注这一过程，关注城市发展问题，聚焦国内外移民、社区建设、城市少数民族族群、农民工等问题，展开对话与讨论。希望通过多学科的交流，多视角的讨论，更好地认识并促进我国城市的发展。
2、会议将邀请不同学科背景的国内外知名学者，就有关中国都市研究最前沿的理论、方法、研究手段展开讨论；严格甄选出的，有较深学术素养，敏锐学术眼光和发展潜力的中美高校博士生，就自己的研究做出报告。
3、会议将更好地鼓励培养学生的独立研究能力，拓展其研究视野，也将加强中国、美国、英国、加拿大等各国高校和学术重镇的联系、交流与合作。
